Please read this ENTIRE page as it includes important information on returning devices and rented textbooks.

Update

You must return your charger with your device.  If you do not, your student account will be charged $40.

If you are enrolled for summer courses, you may keep your device until your course is finished.

The instructions listed below are for students with Microsoft Surface Gos.  Students that have borrowed a MacBook will get separate instructions next week.

Shipping costs are usually between $5-20 depending on which method you choose (USPS, UPS, FedEx)

Devices

Returning students - If you checked out a Microsoft Surface Go device from the bookstore and ARE RETURNING to Iowa Central Community College for fall courses, you may keep your device over the summer break ONLY IF YOU ARE ENROLLED FOR FALL CLASSES.  If you have not yet enrolled, please contact your advisor immediately to get enrolled.  If you are not enrolled for fall classes by May 28, you will need to return your device to the bookstore.

Non-returning students – You will need to return your device to the bookstore by May 28, 2020.  If you do not return your device to the bookstore, you will be charged $450 for the replacement value.

How can I return my device?

You can return your device by shipping it to the address listed below.  You can ship your device via United States Postal Service, FedEx, or UPS. You will be responsible for properly packaging the device (adding bubble wrap to ensure it isn’t damaged), and obtaining a tracking number and insurance for the package so that if it is lost or damaged, you can be reimbursed.  Make sure you include your name and student ID number inside the package so we know who the device belonged to.  If you would like confirmation that your device was received, include an email address inside the package so we can email you delivery confirmation.

If the campus and bookstore reopen in May, you can return your device in person during our normal business hours.  If the campus has not yet reopened, I am hopeful we will be allowed to make an exception and be open May 27-28 for limited hours.  As this date approaches, more information will be sent out.

Please click here (.pdf) for instructions on how to reset your device prior to returning it to the bookstore.  This will clear any personal information you have on your device.

Selling Textbooks

If the campus and bookstore reopen in May, you can sell your books in person during our normal business hours.

The Iowa Central Bookstore has partnered with Nebraska Book Company to allow you to sell your books directly to them instead of selling them to the Iowa Central Bookstore.

Note that this is only for books you purchased instead of rented.  Rental books MUST BE RETURNED TO THE IOWA CENTRAL BOOKSTORE.  If you choose to sell your books to Nebraska Book Company, any issues with payment/shipment must be handled through their customer service info@nebook.com or 811-869-0366
